Clean Beauty & Hygiene: Shampoo and Conditioner

Trying to research and find beauty & hygiene products for you and your family can quickly become a full-time job, so I've compiled this Clean Beauty & Hygiene series to help ease that burden for you!

All of the options in this series are considered clean and safe to use by either the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep site, the Clearya app, and/or both (don't know what those are? Click here to read!) and had consumer ratings of 4 out of 5 stars or above.

These lists will continue to be updated as I learn about more products!

**Side note: unfortunately, just because a brand marketed itself as "non-toxic" or "clean," did not mean that every item they sold was actually clean, which is why I listed the individual products I found that were safe to use, according to those two sources. For easier shopping, click on the "Other Notable Brands" to see brands that should be entirely EWG certified across all of their different products.

Other Notable Brands

For easier shopping, these brands are EWG certified and technically all of their products should be safe to use. However, I didn't include them in the individual product lists above because some of these contain Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate, which came up as an alert on Clearya but wasn't a concern on EWG. I've linked information on them both so you can read about them and decide if they're a concern for you or not.

This brand has hair care, body care, and home care (as well as products for babies and pregnant women!), so it makes shopping a nice one stop shop. They're also ECOLOGO-certified and cruelty-free. All of their products that weren't "Unscented" contained "Fragrance/Parfum" at the end of the ingredients list, however! The ingredients with the asterisks in the list should be what make up the fragrance, if I'm not mistaken. The company also wrote this article on scents, if it's helpful.

They have a wide range of skin care, hair care and bath/body care and are climate pledge friendly on Amazon. I've also seen this brand in many different grocery stores, so it should be easy to find if you're not wanting to shop online.

Not only is this brand a founding member of the EWG program, they also go through pretty impressive lengths to offer clean & safe products to use as well as be environmentally friendly.

As I said before, these lists will continue to be updated, and hopefully will be helpful to you as you shop for clean, non-toxic products for you and your family! Feel free to pass this on to anyone you know that would benefit from this info!
